Do amphibians reproduce by internal or external fertilization ?

Amphibians are organisms that are not true land animals due to the fact that they must return to the water for reproductive purposes. They reproduce sexually and the males and females of the species have external fertilization and development. They both release their gametes in close proximity of one another into the water, where fertilization takes place. Their gelatinous eggs remain in the water where they eventually hatch and further develop into adults after going through metamorphosis.
