In what genre is The Nun's Priest's Tale written?

The Nun's Priest's Tale of Chanticleer the rooster and Sir Russell the fox is a beast fable. Aesop's Fables may be the most famous example of this genre, in which animals behave as though they are humans (personification) and a moral lesson is taught.
